The Cultural coins are 24 carat gold and presented in a leatherette box with a certificate.

CULTURAL GOLD COINS

The Cultural theme was launched in 1998 and features the different cultural groups of South Africa. This range is often referred to as the R1 Gold series.

 

The earlier coins were issued in red leatherette boxes, changing to maroon from 2002. Some of the red boxes had a square window in the lid.
